Art Exhibition

Six Little Rabbits - This exhibition seeks to present state-of-the-art scientific information regarding HIV and AIDS in a light and accessible way, contrasting with the deadly halo that has always characterized HIV and which remains to date the most significant reason people remain untested.

 

Automated Teller Machine (ATM)

There is an ATM on level 1 after the Registration Area.

 

Best Poster Awards

The Best Poster Awards will be handed out during the Best Poster Discussions I (room BELGRADE), II (room MADRID), and III (room COLOGNE) on Friday, October 27 from 13:00 - 14:00.


Certificate of Attendance

After the Conference, you will receive an email inviting you to log into our platform to download your certificate.

 

Closing Remarks
The closing remarks will be given on Friday, October 27, from 16:00 – 16:15 in Room Milan.

CME Credits (Continuing Medical Education)
The 16th European AIDS Conference, Milan, Italy, October 25, 2017 - October 27, 2017 has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®), with 22 European CME credits (ECMEC®s). Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

 

Through an agreement between the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Information on the process to convert EACCME credit to AMA credit can be found at www.ama-assn.org/go/internationalcme.

 

Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognised by the UEMS-EACCME® for ECMEC®s are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Conference Bag
The conference bag, containing the conference material is available at the Conference Material Counter in the Registration Area on level 1. A voucher for the conference bag is attached to your badge.

 

Conference Courtesy and Code of Conduct
As a consideration to all conference delegates, mobile phones should be turned off in all session rooms. Conference delegates are also expected to refrain from the following:

  1. Inflicting personal threat or harm to any conference delegate, exhibitor or staff
  2. Inflicting damage to any property
  3. Preventing speakers from giving their speeches


Connect Lounge

The Connect Lounge can be found in the Exhibition Hall.  There you will find electricity connections to charge electronic devices. It is also a space to connect with other delegates.

EACS Award
The EACS Award for Excellence in HIV Medicine recognises a senior scientist who has greatly contributed to the field of HIV/AIDS and to the society in the last decades. Prof. Nathan Clumeck, Chair of the EACS Award Committee, will announce the winner at the Opening Ceremony of the 16th European AIDS Conference in Milan on October 25.


A call for nominations was sent to all EACS members in May 2017. The results were assessed by the Committee, which considered the candidates’ sustained effort in the field of HIV/AIDS.

EACS Guidelines
Version 9.0 of the EACS Treatment Guidelines will be distributed free of charge during the Conference at the EACS booth in the Exhibition Hall and presented in a special session on Thursday, October 26 from 13:00 - 14:00 in room MILAN.

 

The Guidelines are also available as a mobile app, downloadable on iTunes and Google Play.

 

EACS Pre-Educational Course
The EACS Pre-Educational Course will take place on October 25, from 08:00 - 14:00, on level 2 in room BRUSSELS. It is intended for junior physicians and other health care professionals managing HIV infection. The course is free of charge for anyone interested. The number of participants is limited to 500.

The main topics of this course are:
• Tuberculosis and HIV
STIs & HIV Testing
• Haematuria, PSA
• Patterns of Liver Disease
• Pregnancy & Antenatal Testing
• Resistance and Simplifying Treatment with Modern ART


Exhibition Hall
Conference delegates are invited to visit the Exhibition Hall which will feature commercial exhibitors and non-commercial HIV organisations; it will be open during the following times:

Friday, October 27 09:00 – 14:00

e-Posters
An e-Poster is an electronic version of the traditional paper poster.
You will be able to consult the e-Posters by using one of the computers in the e-Poster area located in the Exhibition Hall. An e-Poster may be shared if the author has previously given his approval. The e-Posters will also be available on the EACS Resource Library after the Conference.

 

Food and Beverage
The Welcome Reception will take place in the Exhibition Hall on Wednesday, October 25 from 17:00 to 18:30. Take the opportunity to meet your fellow delegates in a relaxed environment.

 

Coffee will be served free of charge in the Exhibition Hall during the following times:

Cash catering areas will be at your disposal within the Exhibition Hall during the exhibition opening hours.

 

Film, Photo and Video Recording
EACS and K.I.T. Group work together to create a comprehensive overview of the conference interactions and events which may be of promotional interest to the Society. Accordingly, please be informed that you may be filmed or photographed at any time (in the session rooms, poster area, etc.), and that any presentation you deliver (Best Poster Discussions, etc.) may be recorded.

First Aid
There is a staffed First Aid Room situated on level 1 at the end of the Balcony. Any member of staff will be able to assist you in finding it. It will be open during the following times:

Insurance and Liability
The Conference Organiser, the European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS), the EACS Conference Secretariat and MiCo shall not be held liable for personal injury or any loss or damage to the belongings of conference delegates, either during or as a result of the Conference. Please check the validity of your own insurance regarding loss incurred in the event of cancellation, medical expenses, or damage to or loss of personal effects. EACS cannot be held liable for any hindrance or disruption of the EACS Conference proceedings arising from natural, political, social or economic events or other unforeseen incidents beyond its control.

Found at www.justrislide.com, this is the official repository for all slide presentations from EACS conferences. Presentations from this conference will be available shortly after the meeting. The registration to the site is free and slides can be viewed online or downloaded for personal use.

Lost and Found
Please contact the Registration Desk for personal belongings which have been lost or found.

 

Name Badge
A name badge is required for admittance to all official conference sessions and events. Each delegate is required to present the badge to have access to the conference. The name badge must be clearly displayed. If an attendee loses, misplaces or forgets their name badge, a handling fee of 70€ will be charged for a new badge and the lost badge will be invalidated.

 

The name badges and lanyards are generously supported by Gilead.

 

Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony will take place in room MILAN on October 25, from 14:00 – 14:50. All registered delegates are invited to attend this event.

 

People with Disabilities
The MiCo is accessible to conference participants with disabilities.

 

Poster Area / Poster Sessions
Posters must be set up on Wednesday, October 25 from 14:00 – 17:00 and removed on Friday, October 27 from 14:00 – 15:00. Posters not removed by this time will be discarded.


Posters will be presented on Thursday, October 26 and on Friday, October 27, from 12:00 – 14:00. Poster authors will be asked to be present next to their poster during these times.

WAVE - Women Against Viruses in Europe
The EACS WAVE workshop promoting the welfare of HIV-positive women in Europe will take place on October 25, 2017 from 11:00 to 14:00 in room COLOGNE on level 2. The workshop is intended for healthcare professionals and community representatives with an interest in promoting equality of access to care, excellence in standard of care, and delivering targeted educational programmes. The course is free of charge for registered delegates. Registration is compulsory and is on a first-come, first-served basis. The number of participants is limited to 150.

 

Webcasts
All scientific sessions will be made available as a webcasts. This service will be available directly after the Conference on the EACS Resource Library.
